Management Information System- beyond

   Management information system is a set of procedure that collects, stores, and disseminates information from an organization and internal operation to support organization different function and to support on decision making. Information system are very essential for conducting business. Today MIS is not limited to working on pc and email. It supports whole system of the organization. Without having sufficient information, we cannot run business process more effectively. MIS helps to run the business more effectively and help to design new system. Most of the company uses different MIS system to support their business process. (Laundon & laudon, 2010) MIS primarily serve the functions of planning, controlling, and decision making at the management level." MIS are one of a number of different types of information systems that can serve the needs of different levels in an organization. The different business process need different types of information and these information should be transfer and manipulate as required by specification of job to achieve competitive advantage. These all function to ensure effective flow of information are done by using MIS. In the company there are different function area like production, marketing, human resources area, and between these department information should interchange to make their business process more effective. The information should be transfer timely by minimizing the cost. MIS supports the planning & controlling function of managers in the organization. MIS provide an information about the information and it’s manipulate the data to maintain good relationship with the customer. Such that MIS helps to organization by interchanging the flow of information and by collecting and sharing information, replacing sequentially steps with parallel steps. That will help to make quick decision.
     Information systems is developed to support upper management in planning the company's strategic direction or to help manufacturing in controlling a plant's operations.  There are many MIS system like transaction processing systems, which simply record the routine transactions needed to conduct business. Decision support system helps to take make non routine decision for middle management. It generates the information that is needed to put on decision. Executive support system help senior management to take strategy decision. They manipulate all the information that they get from lower level and from external environment. These all the information are given by the MIS and using these information they use to take decision. Ideally, the various types of information systems in an organization are interconnected to allow for information sharing. Such that MIS not only provide the information it ensure the effective flow of information in business. So why many company are spending a lot of money to have effective MIS system in company. Hence we can say that MIS in organizations goes beyond simply providing a working PC and email. Its support all level of management and helps to make business process more effective
